Airman Cyle J. McCleary of Presque Isle has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, with the distinction of honor graduate.
This honor, which recognizes top performers in the areas of physical fitness, written examinations, evaluations, inspections and instructor recommendations, was awarded to graduates in the top 10 percent of his class of 660 basic military graduates. The honor graduates were recognized during the Airman’s Coin Ceremony and reception, where they received an additional coin symbolizing Honor Graduate status.
McCleary is currently pursuing security forces technical training at Lackland. He is the son of James and Carol McCleary of Presque Isle, and the grandson of Geraldine and the late John McCleary of Millinocket and Bud and Jane McEwen of Presque Isle. He graduated from Northern Maine Community College in 2015 and Presque Isle High School in 2014.
