Planned Parenthood joins state coalition

TOPSHAM — The Maine Health Management Coalition, a non-profit organization working to reduce healthcare costs and improve the quality of clinical services, recently announced the addition of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England as a new member.

Planned Parenthood’s local office is Presque Isle Family Planning, located at 5 Martin St.
Other new coalition members are the Portland Gastroenterology Center and Pine State Trading Company of Gardiner.
Planned Parenthood of Northern New England encompasses Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and is the largest reproductive health care and sexuality education provider and advocate in northern New England. Its mission is to provide, promote, and protect access to reproductive health care and sexuality education so that all people can make voluntary choices about their reproductive and sexual health.
The MHMC drives and achieves improvements in the Maine healthcare system by working with its members to create new benefit plans, provide ratings on clinicians’ performance and educate members on how their individual healthcare spending compares to state benchmarks.
As a convener between health plans, purchasers, providers and consumer groups the MHMC combines the efforts of all parties involved in Maine’s healthcare system to reach its vision of leading the country in health status, patient experience and low per capita healthcare expenditures.
