Science center offering free shows

The Francis Malcolm Science Center is offering two digital programs to the public Saturday, May 14 and Monday, May 16, 2016.
“The Zula Patrol: Down to Earth” is geared toward pre-school through third grade-age children. This family show introduces the “Zula Patrol,” who police the solar system for responsible conduct. They encounter irresponsible trash dumping and all the fast fun and colorful adventure begins as viewers learn about Earth history, fossils, and civic responsibility for all. Show time are Saturday, May 14 from 2:30-3 p.m. and Monday, May 16 from 6-6:30 p.m.
“Dynamic Earth” is geared toward those fifth-grade age and older. Explore the inner workings of the Earth’s climate system. Audiences ride along on the swirling ocean and wind currents, dive into the heart of a monster hurricane, and come face-to-face with sharks and gigantic whales. The show is both educational and entertaining. Show times are Saturday, May 14 from 3:30-4 p.m. and Monday, May 16 from 7-7:30 p.m.

Happy Days
The Happy Days Senior Citizens’ Club met for a potluck lunch on April 28, with 10 members and four guests present. One of the guests, Daryl Adams, RPh, answered questions from the group concerning over the counter medications.
The next meeting will be another potluck lunch at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12 in the Recreation Room at the Manor. Steve DeMaio will share information about the Easton Public Library. Please plan to attend and invite a friend.
Co-ed softball
The Easton Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for this summer’s co-ed softball league. Please contact Hillary Hallett if you plan to enter a team or if you need for more information. The fee will be determined by number of teams who enter.
Student registration for upcoming school year
The Easton School Department is now accepting registration for children entering kindergarten or Pre-K in the fall of 2016. All children residing within the Easton school district who are 5 years old (on or before Oct.15, 2016) are eligible for enrollment in the kindergarten class. All children residing within the Easton school district who are 4 years old (on or before Oct. 15, 2016) are eligible for the Pre-K class.
Please call the Easton Elementary School at 488-7700 as soon as possible to register your child for either of the above classes. The classroom teacher will notify parents/guardians when an informational meeting for parents is scheduled. The following documents are required by the State of Maine: proof of immunizations, birth certificate and proof of residency (rental agreement, utility bill, etc). These documents must be presented prior to the child beginning school.
Sesquicentennial memorabilia
As a year of celebrating Easton’s year-long 150th birthday has concluded, there are still a few items available, including books on the history of Easton, titled “A Community Carved from the Wilderness 1865-2015” for only $5; 20-ounce glasses with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos for $8, glass coffee mugs with Bears and Sesquicentennial logos, royal blue T-shirts with Sesquicentennial logos for $8 (sizes are limited), blue sweatshirts with Sesquicentennial logos for $20 (quantities very limited) and two-tone caps or standard caps with Bears or Sesquicentennial logos for $10.
