Spring craft fair set at Lions Hall

There will be a County Joys: Crafts, Gifts and More Spring Arts, Crafts and Small Business Fair at the Mapleton Lions Hall this weekend.
Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22, 2016. Admission is free to the public.

Little League
Little League baseball coaches are needed for the Mapleton Recreation Little League baseball team Buck’s Construction. If you are interested in coaching, please contact Town Manager Jon Frederick at 764-3754.
There will be a baseball coaches meeting at the town office with the recreation director and town manager on Wednesday, May 25, at 6 p.m. to review registrations and shape rosters for the upcoming season. Contact the town manager if you are unable to attend but are willing to coach.
Little League baseball and summer recreation program registrations are open. Registration forms may be obtained from the town office or the web site www.mapleton.me.
Memorial Day events
On Monday, May 30t, the Mapleton Lions Club will conduct the annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.
The lineup will start at 1:30 p.m. on the Dudley Road. The parade will step off promptly at 2 p.m., and will move down Main Street to the Mapleton Elementary School. Any organization, business or individual is invited to march in the parade. Please call the Mapleton Lions Club at 764-4916 to indicate that you plan to march.
Shortly after the parade ends, the remembrance ceremony will be held at the Veterans Memorial Monument in front of the elementary school. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony and honor those who served in our military and made the supreme sacrifice for our country.
Road closure
The Mapleton Road (Route 163) will be closed for the Memorial Day Parade May 30 from approximately 2-3 p.m. The road will be closed from Dudley Road to the Mapleton Elementary School. Eastbound traffic may detour in Ashland to Route 227. Westbound traffic may detour on Garland Road north to Route 227.
Junk the mortgage
The Chapman Ridge Runners Snowmobile and ATV Club will be accepting metal from homeowners as a fundraiser to help pay down the mortgage on the clubhouse.
Now is the time to clean up around your yard and get rid of any unwanted metals. Items will be accepted until Saturday, June 18.
Please call Terry Hanlon at 762-3702 or Mickey Maynard at 764-1236 to make arrangements for dropping off items. No “white goods” can be accepted.
