Author to speak at Hansen library
MARS HILL NEWS
Author Anthony Dolan Scott, a professor at UMPI, will be speaking at the Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library tonight at 7 p.m.
He will be reading and speaking about his recent book “The Year Things Came Apart,” a memoir told through a collection of poems. A fundamentalist pastor is faced with a series of troubles and is left with the question of what to do with a faith too rigid to heal his grief. Copies of his book will be available at the library for $13.66.
Tag Sale
The library is planning to hold a series of Tag Sales this summer. If you have items to donate, please check with the library at 429-9625 to arrange to drop things off or to have them picked up.
Homecoming Days 2016
Plans are well underway for this year’s Homecoming Days to be held August 11-14. Some new activities planned for this year are a partner carrying contest, a fry pan throwing contest and more. The Keystone Kops will be out again “protecting the town” on Friday afternoon and evening, so be on your best behavior, not that it will save you.
If your class is planning a reunion this year, please contact Kathy at 425-3771 or 540-6325 so your plans can be included in the brochure and on the website. Crafters and food vendors for Saturday afternoon are also asked to contact Kathy so your space can be reserved.
For those wanting to be in our parade, there is a form on the website to print off with your information for the announcers. For more information, check out our website www.HomecomingDays.org.
