FFHS announces hall of fame class

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The names of the third class of inductees for the Fort Fairfield High School Athletic Hall of Fame have been announced. The induction ceremony will be held July 14, 2016 at the high school. The eight honorees are:

Clarence “Chub” Clark

Clark coached the boys’ and girls’ ski teams to five state championships and nine regional titles. Clark, who will be inducted posthumously, also coached various other sports including golf, track and field, baseball and cross country.

Wilbur “Biff” Cyr

Cyr is a 1971 graduate and star pitcher for the 1970 Class A state baseball champions, the school’s first in the sport. He pitched and was an offensive standout, compiling a batting average of over .390 his sophomore season and over .300 as a junior.

Timothy Doak

A 1986 graduate and multi-sport star athlete, Doak earned 11 varsity letters in basketball, baseball, golf and soccer. He was a starter and key member of the 1983-84 Eastern Maine Class C basketball championship team. He was awarded the FFHS Basil Mahaney Award as Athlete of the Year.

Devin Jewett

Jewett was an outstanding multi-sport standout, graduating in 1998. She played basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball and earned several Eastern Maine and All-Aroostook awards, including the McDonald’s Senior All-Star and the Basil Mahaney Award as Athlete of the Year. Jewett is the sixth all-time leading scorer for girls basketball with 738 career points.

Kelly Koziol

A 1989 graduate, Koziol was excellent athlete who coached some champion teams and athletes at her alma mater. She coached Tiger cheerleading squads to state championships in 2003, 2005 and 2006. Koziol also coached boys soccer and boys and girls track teams, including many individual state, regional and County champions and record holders.

Shawn Rogers

Rogers is a 1994 graduate who played numerous sports during his career. He pitched his team to the 1994 Class D state baseball championship, earning all-state first team honors in the process. In addition to baseball, Rogers played basketball and was a four-year player on the soccer team. He won the Basil Mahaney Award as Athlete of the Year.

Jessie Giggey Thomson

A 1950 graduate who participated in basketball, cross country skiing, softball and cheering, Thomson averaged 24 point per game her senior year of basketball. Her coach called her one the quickest players on the court, male or female.

Tony Ugone

Ugone is a 1978 graduate who played baseball, basketball, soccer and volleyball. He was a member of the 1976 Eastern Maine soccer championship team and earned All-American honors that same year. He was also the Basil Mahaney award winner as Athlete of the Year.
