MAPLETON – Frederick “Freddie” M. Ward, Jr., 70, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 1, 2016, at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. He was born September 11, 1945, in Mars Hill, the son of Frederick M. Ward, Sr. and Charlene M. (Benson) Ward.
As a child growing up, Freddie thoroughly enjoyed working at Hotham’s Dairy Farm in Blaine. Freddie attended ACI School in Mars Hill and then worked for Wettereau, formally known as Milliken-Tomlinson for over 33 years. He loved camping at Long Lake, harness racing, hunting and snowmobiling. He was a faithful fan to the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics and NASCAR and never missed a chance to watch the many “games” and “races”.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Carvell and her husband, Carroll of Blaine; brother, Robert Ward and his wife, Paula of Blaine; sister, Pamela Hickey and her husband, Athill of Easton; brother-in-law, Richard Shaw and his wife, Nancy of Caribou; seven nephews: Michael Carvell and his wife, Dacia and child, Jaxon; Joel Carvell and his wife, Kathy and children, Jacob and Kaitlyn; Daniel Ward and his wife, Amy and children, Hunter and Owen; Benjamin Hickey and his wife, Stacy and child Cooper; David Southern and his children, Kassidy, Dawson, Breanna and Drea; Glen Shaw; Tyler Shaw and his wife, Tammy and children, Kamen and Rowan; special niece, Brittany Theriault and her husband, Kyle and child, Amelia; niece, Davina Southern and her children, Darica and Dakota; special friends: Hazen Taggett and Dave Farnum, his Long Lake “camping buddies”; and his very special cat, Sammi.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Paulette Ward.
