Flatbed trailer flips along Route 163 in Castle Hill

A Presque Isle man driving through Castle Hill crashed a flatbed truck loaded with telephone poles last Wednesday afternoon.

Terrance Gregg, 71, was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi flatbed farm truck east toward Ashland on Route 163 when the trailer started to fishtail as he was traveling down a steep grade in the road near Haystack mountain, according to the Maine State Police.
The driver lost control of the rig, and it “skidded sideways off the north side of the roadway, where the truck and the trailer flipped over and came to rest in the ditch,” state trooper Adam Stoutamyer said in a report on the June 1 crash.
Gregg was wearing a seatbelt and was not taken to the hospital, according to the police report. The truck’s load of telephone poles spilled into the ditch, Stoutamyer said.
