MARS HILL – Dolores Ina Pierce, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 6, 2016. She was born in Blaine on April 11, 1927, daughter of Israel W. and Hilda (Dunphy) Kinney.
Dolores was a homemaker for many years, raising five children. She later worked outside the home, working for A.R. Gould Memorial Hospital, in the billing and emergency departments. She also worked for two special physicians, Dr. Sanders Burstein and Dr. Robert Shaw, as well as other physicians.
She was a longtime active member of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill.
She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with them, including all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always attended as many of their activities as possible.
She is survived by her children, Kristi Alexander and her husband, Robert of Ellsworth, Peter and his wife, Rattiya of Mars Hill, Paul of Mars Hill, and Jill Hotham and her husband, Chuck of Westfield; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister-in-law, Sybil Pierce.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Franklin Pierce on June 27, 2014; her daughter, Brenda Ruhlin; grandson, Robert Alexander, Jr.; and sister, Irene Graham; brother-in-laws, Fred Graham, Sylvanus Pierce and Wendell Pierce.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caretakers who helped us take care of our mom, during her difficult illness.
Friends called at the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill on Saturday, June 11, from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services were held immediately after with Pastor Mitch Ross officiating. Interment was at Kings Grove Cemetery in Mars Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Baptist Church Missions, P.O. Box 382, Mars Hill, ME 04758.
