Cain values education

To the editor:
In Maine today, having a college diploma has become an important key to opening doors of opportunity.

Having member of Congress who cares about students and is passionate about making education more accessible is important not only for students, but also for our economy.
I was glad to learn that Emily Cain, running for Congress, has worked for years in education and proposed plans to allow students to refinance their loans to make college more affordable. On the other hand, her opponent Bruce Poliquin voted last year to cut Pell Grants, which help Maine families pay for the skyrocketing cost of college.
We often ask for real debates over real issues in politics. This is one of them. I believe Emily Cain strongly values education, and with her as our state’s representative in Congress, more students will be able to obtain their key to higher opportunity.
