Mapleton man accused of damaging vehicle

MAPLETON, Maine — An 18-year-old man is facing charges of terrorizing and criminal mischief after allegedly damaging another person’s car.

Maine State Police arrested Jarred Knight of Mapleton about 2 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016 after receiving a 911 call from an individual on Grendell Road in Chapman about the person’s Pontiac sedan being damaged, with hood scratches and a broken front light.
State Trooper Andrew Levesque allegedly found the suspect’s vehicle on Main Street in Mapleton, a community bordering Chapman.
Levesque stopped the vehicle, which was carrying Knight and a juvenile, and called the alleged victim to the scene.
Knight was identified as being involved in the damage and was taken to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, where bail will be set, according to a media release.
It’s not clear what led to the confrontation, but Sgt. Jeffrey Clark said it seemed there was an “ongoing issue” between the individuals.
Information about how Knight allegedly caused the damage was unavailable.
As of last Tuesday afternoon, the incident was still under investigation.
