Sporting events a major part of FF festival 2016
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — A few sporting events are coming right up as the 69th Maine Potato Blossom Festival approaches.
The annual swim meet takes place at the municipal swimming pool Monday, July 11 beginning at 9 a.m. CAll 472-3883 for more information.
On Tuesday, July 12, the 3-on-3 basketball tournament is held at the community center gym. Individuals 16 years of age and older are eligible to compete in the double-elimination event, which gets underway at 6 p.m. The entry fee is $30 per team. Register through the recreation department at 472-3882.
Other sports activities planned include the junior girls softball tournament at the Fort Fairfield Middle High School Sports Complex July 14, the three-person scramble golf tourney at Aroostook Valley Country Club July 16, the five-mile road race at 8:30 a.m. for walkers and 9 a.m. for runners July 16, the 25-mile Spud Cycle Classic bicycle race and tour at 10 a.m. on July 17 and the Floatilla of Fun on the Aroostook at 2 p.m. on July 17.
