Tiger Basketball Camp draws 300
FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Two weeks of Tiger Basketball Camp wrapped up July 1, 2016 with nearly 300 boys and girls taking part in this year’s version.
Players from throughout Aroostook County and New Brunswick signed up for the 30th annual camp, which was held at the high school gymnasium and featured “Championship Friday” events and the family barbecue attended by 500 at the end of each week.
“These were two very competitive and exciting weeks for all our players and staff alike,” said director Larry Gardner. “We are very fortunate to have a great and very dedicated staff that is committed to giving all players the best possible instruction and experience possible. The kids love coming back and getting reacquainted with friends made from the previous year.”
This year’s camp MVPs, selected by the coaches, were Alex Bouchard from Caribou and Libby Moreau from Presque Isle.
Two other players — one boy and one girl — were the lucky winners of two Boston Celtics tickets each for the upcoming season. Parker Deprey of Caribou and Riley Clough of Fort Fairfield were the two winners drawn from all the eighth-graders attending their last year of camp as a way of thanking them for the attendance over the years.
Gardner said he was appreciative of the many sponsors who made donations to the camp.
