Saucier gives region a voice

To the editor:
Rep. Robert Saucier of Presque Isle has fought tirelessly for the people of northern Maine. Throughout his tenure in the Legislature, he has submitted legislation that reflects the wishes of his constituents and he votes with their best interests in mind.

This year, Rep. Saucier submitted legislation to ensure that Presque Isle’s snowmobile trail remained connected. It became law in March. He also fought hard to bring broadband to rural Maine, working with the Maine Farm Bureau and other organizations that support this effort. While ultimately the bill did not become law this session, Rep. Saucier continues to fight. He has already submitted legislation to continue his efforts to improve access to high-speed internet in Aroostook County.
Rep. Saucier serves on two important policy committees – Veterans and Legal Affairs and Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. As a veteran himself, he fights to ensure our service members have the resources they need when they return home and continue to have support throughout their transition back into civilian life and beyond. Rep. Saucier also works to protect our natural resources and ensure that we continue to support Maine’s farmers, public lands and outdoor heritage.
Rep. Saucier also serves as House chair of the Legislature’s Maine Citizen Trade Policy Commission, which gives Mainers a stronger voice in federally negotiated international trade agreements and looks at the impact they have on our state.
Every day, Rep. Saucier stands up for the people of his district and works to ensure that the Legislature takes votes that support our rural economy. It is an honor to work with such a dedicated representative.
