Tea will benefit museums

The Salmon Brook Historical Society’s fourth annual Tea and Quilt Show will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 to support the Wilder Farmstead and Aroostook Agricultural museums.

Tea sittings are at 12:30, 1:45, and 3 p.m. at the museum. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance; call Wanita Hallowell at 540-1154 or Rita Kingsbury at 429-9359.

August Fest reminders

The annual Washburn August Festival parade will be held Saturday, Aug. 20, and will start at 10 a.m.

For ATV enthusiasts

An ATV/SUV rodeo is planned Saturday, Aug. 20, at the clubhouse on Gould Street. This will be free to either play or watch. Kids are welcome but must wear a helmet if under the age of 18. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the fun begins at 11:30. There will also be a food booth and 50/50 raffle.
An ATV Poker Run/Ride will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, sponsored by Chandler Farms. Registration is at 9 a.m. and the ride begins at 10. Riders will leave from the clubhouse on Gould Street, go around the Scopan Mountain loop and back to the clubhouse for the hands and announcement of the winners.
The fees are $2 a hand and there will also be a 50/50 raffle. For more information, check out the website at WashburnATVClub.com.

Quilt raffle

The Salmon Brook Historical Society is also holding a quilt raffle to benefit the museums. The quilt, called “Summer Play,” is 80” x 92”. Jill Fox donated the fabric, the “Stitchin’ ‘n Givin’” group made the blocks and Alma Fogg did the machine quilting.
Tickets are $5 for 6 or $1 each, and are available at the museums between 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday afternoons or by calling Rita Kingsbury at 429-9359 or Wanita Hallowell at 540-1154.
Tickets will also be available at the Tea and Quilt Show and during August Fest.
The drawing for “Summer Play” will take place at the Sept. 17 baked bean supper, sponsored by the Historical Society and the Washburn Rotary Club.
