Condon features art during First Friday
PRESQUE ISLE — Presque Isle native Jillelaine Condon is Wintergreen’s featured artist for the month of September. The opening reception for her show “Home Is Where the Art Is” will be held at the center on Friday, Sept. 2, during the First Friday Downtown Art Walk.
The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. Refreshments will be served and music provided by Brian and Doug from Common Crossing.
Condon is a self-taught lifelong artist. She found inspiration in children’s books from an early age in illustrators such as Maurice Sendek and Mary Blair. She also was inspired by the stunning night skies and natural landscapes of her birthplace in northern Maine.
Utilizing many mediums, including watercolors and illustration markers, Condon places her art onto watercolor paper and locally reclaimed woods. She spends hours focused on one small spot at a time to create a masterpiece of color.
She lives in southern Maine with her daughter, her husband and their dogs. She is a work-from-home mom.
