’Cats, Panthers play their first golf matches
Presque Isle hosted its first golf match of the season Friday with Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln and the Hermon Hawks making the trip north.
Logan Thompson shot a 36 to lead Mattanawcook to the victory. The Lynx had a team score of 163, which was 38 better than the Wildcats and 45 strokes lower than the Hawks.
Hunter Flynn paced PI by carding a 42. Libby Boone followed with a 50, while Seth Roy and John Saucier were the Wildcats’ other competitors.
The Central Aroostook Panthers got their season going Monday with a match held in Island Falls at Va Jo Wa Golf Club.
In the victory over the Southern Aroostook Warriors, Shane Stackpole of CA was the medalist with a 47. Tyson Cyr and Isabelle Wright were the other top Panther golfers on the afternoon.
