Sending a mixed message
To the editor:
“What Maine needs for a Governor is a good benevolent dictator,” must have been the hope that put LePage into the king’s seat — someone who would dare to tell the politicians in Augusta to go to Hades, and who would “hate newspapers,” while single-handedly ushering in great economic prosperity by disregarding the sacrificial values of Christian democracy.
We might well be more inspired now had his “Open for business” billboard read, “Welcome to Maine, where massive democracy grows brilliance, charity, peace and prosperity for ALL.”
