Hale joins Academy faculty
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Cornerstone Christian Academy welcomes Heather Hale to the faculty for the fall of 2016-2017 as the full-time social studies and English/language arts teacher for grades 6-12.
As a certified 7-12 educator with a BS in sociology and applied psychology (summa cum laude) from Cedarville University and a master’s in special education from the University of Southern Maine, Hale brings seven years of experience in educating students in the classroom.
Cornerstone officials said her commitment to individualized student outcomes and her creative approach to ensure every student is academically, spiritually and emotionally engaged in the classroom will be a fantastic fit for the middle and high school programs at CCA.
“Although Cornerstone Christian Academy is already seeing scores on nationally standardized tests that are on the high end of the range of performance exhibited by many of our great local public schools, Mrs. Hale is the first of what we hope are many future hires that will join our faculty as we focus on reaching our goals for excellence in academics,” said CCA Head of School Jay Levesque.
“These goals, set by our board of directors, will see 30 percent or more of our students scoring in the top 23rd percentile of nationally standardized tests, while 70 percent of the remaining students are supported in such a way that they see at least 10 percent year-over-year growth in their own percentile rank performance,” Levesque said.
“Her formal education and training as well as her extensive work with special needs children is such a unique blend that our entire staff is looking forward to the collaboration that adding a faculty member like Mrs. Hale brings,” he said.
Hale’s years of volunteer work at the Pregnancy Care Center, as well as serving as nursery director for the Presque Isle Wesleyan Church, reflect and fit well with the value CCA places on its members contributing in a meaningful and positive way to the communities it serves.
Hale and her husband reside in Caribou.
Cornerstone Christian Academy is an independent, non-denominational, private Christian school for students in pre-K through grade 12 with an enrollment of approximately 70 students. The school has been in operation since 2006.
