Officiating class

Basketball officiating school, hosted by the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board #150, will begin Sept. 27, 2016 at Presque Isle High School.

The class will be held from 7-9 p.m. and the cost is $40. For more information on the class and the specific location, contact Harry Orser at 425-4451 or go online to iaabo150.org.

Swimming lessons

The Presque Isle Recreation Center is accepting pre-paid registrations for the Sept. 26 to Nov. 5 session of swimming lessons. Registration will close on Sept. 23.
Lessons will be held at Gentile Hall at the University of Maine Presque Isle and there are openings in the following classes: parent/toddler (6 months to 3 years), PRE 1, 2 and 3; Learn to Swim I-VI, adult class and adapted lessons for children with autism.
Shallow water exercise and deep water exercise classes are also offered.

The recreation center’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Swimming lessons have a $25 fee per participant. Non-residents will have an additional family fee of $50.

Goughan Farm Adventure

On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is conducting a youth field trip to the Goughan Farm for a fun day of activity and adventure. The trip includes transportation to and from the farm, a group hay ride, exploration of the corn maze, homemade ice cream and a take-home pumpkin, all for just $6 per person. For an additional $2.50, participants can play nine holes of mini golf, or for an extra $5 participants can play the entire 18-hole course before leaving the farm, or play nine holes for $2.50.
The bus will depart from the community center at noon and return at approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants must be at least 10 years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone.

Fall foliage luncheon

There will be a fall foliage luncheon excursion to the Lakeview Restaurant in St. Agatha on Thursday, Oct. 6 for all senior citizens and their guests, offered through the Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department.
The tour bus will depart from the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fort Fairfield at 10 a.m. and will return at approximately 2:30 p.m. There is no charge for the bus transportation but all participants are responsible for the cost of their own lunch.
