Budget decision must wait
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Parents, students, educators and taxpayers are going to have to wait a few more weeks to vote on Maine School Administrative District 1’s third budget proposal for the current school year, after a scheduling error by one of the district’s localities.
The MSAD 1 budget validation vote scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 29. According to district officials, there was “a potential posting discrepancy by one of the member communities” related to the scheduling.
“In consultation with the district’s attorney and the communities it was mutually agreed to err on the side of caution” and reschedule the vote, said Clint Deschene, assistant superintendent.
