Fletcher speaks at Rotary meeting
MARS HILL NEWS
By Tomi Henderson
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Sept. 13 at the Aroostook Health Center and Rotarian Larry Fletcher spoke about his recent trip to Indianapolis with two friends, Kenny Campbell and Scott Smith.
They have been attending the National Drag Racing event every other year since 1970.
This year they ended up with a rental car that had a few “quirks.” It would stall when they stopped but would start right up again. The three mechanics finally realized it was a hybrid and figured how to drive it without any problems!
Larry was the driver, and blames their sightseeing tour one night on his two questionable navigators! They went out to eat at a place they had been to before, but it had evidently ”moved”, so they ended up at another restaurant. It was getting back to their hotel that ended up taking a few hours.
A lost phone (left at the restaurant) and a forgotten bag (at the airport restaurant) were only a couple of their misadventures over the time they were away.
On a final note, Larry had just received a new smart phone before they left. He discovered the MAP feature on it the next day which “would have been better found the night before!”
I’m thinking that we should ask Kenny and Scott to come to Rotary one morning to tell us their recollections on their trips!
