Common Ground is the place to be
To the editor:
Instead of a leaking toxic mine at Bald Mountain, Aroostook County citizens could consider what other individuals are doing to lead the path to the future creating sustainable communities.
From England, Rob Hopkins wrote, “The Transition Handbook – From Oil Depending to Local Resilience.” Here in Maine, Brenda Cartwright from Belfast, has done a lot of work in her community. She says, 14 towns have registered as transition towns.
The Maine Organic Farming and Gardening Association’s Common Ground Country Fair, Sept. 23rd, 24th and 25th is a fun and inspiring experience of Maine’s culture and small businesses. Their website, mofga.org lists weekend programs including Sustainable Saturday, Sept. 24.
I hope to see you there.
