MMG holds event

Sept. 15, 2016 marked the 20th year that MMG Insurance has put on its Special Olympics soccer event and to help commemorate the anniversary, every athlete went home with a water bottle labeled with MMG and the Special Olympic logo.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle hosted the event on its soccer fields.
The day comprised of both individual events (shooting, dribbling and run and kick) as well as the soccer team tournament. There were 89 total participants from all around Aroostook County, making up seven soccer teams and nine individual skills participants. The players were divided into teams with two divisions. The Comets won the Div. I title and the Blazers were first in Div. II.
Volunteers throughout the morning, in addition to MMG employees, included Ian Frank of the Special Olympics Portland office, Presque Isle High School National Honor Society students, local soccer officials, the UMPI men’s and women’s soccer teams and local forest rangers and state troopers.
