Wildcats prepare for golf
First-year coach Adam Flynn and his Presque Isle varsity golf team will have a final tune-up today before taking part in the Penobscot Valley Conference championships on Thursday.
The Wildcats will take on Caribou at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln this afternoon, the same venue that will host the PVC competition the next day. Team and individual qualifiers for next month’s state championships will be determined.
Presque Isle has posted a 9-7 regular season record. On Monday, the Wildcats took on Houlton and Caribou in a match held at Presque Isle Country Club. Hunter Flynn, a senior and the team’s No. 1 golfer, shot a 39 to earn medalist honors and helped the Wildcats to victories over both the Shires and Vikes.
Seth Roy had a 48, Libby Boone a 50, John Saucier a 51 and Isaac Madore a 55 to round out the list of Presque Isle competitors.
PI shot a 188, two strokes better than Houlton. Caribou came in with a 203 on the afternoon.
