The Haystack Historical Museum will be the site of the area’s first Christmas craft workshop scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. The workshop will run from 1-3 p.m. at the museum on Main Street in Mapleton.
Lisa Shephard, who was the museum’s instructor at its spring tea in May, will lead the workshop. Shephard is well known as an arts and crafts instructor and teaches many craft workshops in Maine and elsewhere in New England. She has volunteered to lead this craft workshop, which will consist of using kits to make homemade Christmas cards and a Christmas house decoration.
The museum is offering this workshop as a community service; however, there will be a charge of $10 per participant to cover the cost of kits and instructions. The museum will provide delicious homemade snacks along with coffee or tea for everyone attending.
In order to prepare for the workshop and make sure enough space is available, the organizing committee would like to know how many people are planning to attend. To reserve your kits and workshop seat, call 764-0290 and indicate how many will attend, so the museum can anticipate attendance. Leave a message if no one answers. The fee can be paid at the door.
Participants may Invite a relative or friend to attend, including children or grandchildren, so you can share the experience together. At the spring tea, each of the youngsters attending had an enjoyable time with their craft project.
First Friday Luncheon
The Mapleton United Methodist Church will hold its regular First Friday Luncheon on Oct. 7 at 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
If you have missed these luncheons, please plan to attend as they are excellent times to meet friends and neighbors. There is no charge for the meal, but donations are accepted.
