A Fort Fairfield teenager who was listed as missing for more than a day has been located and is safe.
Fort Fairfield police asked for the public’s help finding Tyana McLaughlin, 16, who had not been seen since 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, when she left her Fort Fairfield residence, according to a media release from Police Chief Shawn Newell the next day.
McLaughlin’s mother, Nicole Lesuer, had “brief phone contact with her that evening,” but then could not contact her, Newell said in the release.
McLaughlin was thought to still be in the area around central Aroostook County, “possibly hiding out in Washburn or Caribou,” Newell said.
The police announced on Saturday morning Oct. 15 that McLaughlin had been located safely, though did not release further details.
