On Oct. 22, 12-year old Kassidy Brewer and 10-year-old Trey Brewer of Easton had an exciting day in which they were both successful tagging their very first deer. Kassidy shot her doe in the morning and Trey shot his button horn buck later that afternoon.
They shared a wonderful day together and a memory that will last a lifetime. Their father, Jason, said, “he is so proud of them and is lucky that both kids love and enjoy hunting as much as he does. It is a day that I will never forget!” Also assisting in the hunt were friends, Scott Cyr and Barry Churchill, both of Fort Fairfield.
Upcoming community library hours
The library will be open to the community for patrons to utilize library services: book loans, use of periodicals and reference materials, Internet and computer access. Patrons may bring their own devices to access the Internet and will be asked to follow existing library rules/guidelines.
The elementary school library will be open from 3-5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The Easton High School library will be open from 9:30 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Nov. 5 with story time from 10-10:30 a.m.
Community Calendar
The Easton Kiwanis Club has decided after 41 years that they are unable to do the Community Calendar. In an effort to keep the tradition alive, the recreation department is going to take it over, at least for this year.

Close Encounters of the 1975 Kind
On Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., the new digital planetarium theater at the Francis Malcolm Science Center hosts the seasonal remembrance of the eerie UFO Encounter at the former Loring Air Force Base in autumn of 1975. Local testimony will add special excitement and zest to this still unsolved mystery in a program produced by students of the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in 2009.
Additionally, “2 Small Pieces of Glass” will celebrate civilization’s discovery and adventure with astronomy’s greatest tool, the telescope. Weather permitting, stirring sky watching will follow the program. Bring your telescopes or binoculars and dress appropriately. For reservations or further information, call 488-5451. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students
Junior Exhibition planned
The Class of 2018 will be holding its Junior Exhibition on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. at Easton Junior-Senior High School. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students, $2 for senior citizens and $12 for a family of four or more.
Craft fair scheduled
The annual craft fair will be held Dec. 3 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Easton Elementary School gyms. Spots are still available. The fee is $20 and payment must be received by Oct. 31. For more information, please call Melissa at 227-4093 or email at crazycountygirl96@gmail.com.
