Also known lovingly as mom, grammy, mimi and ma, Glennis is survived by her husband, Otis F. Russell, Jr.; eight children; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Glennis spent her younger days helping on her family farm, singing and playing piano in the Dunntown Advent Christian Church, and riding her horse, Jazz. As a cheerleader at Washburn High basketball games, she met and married the team captain, Otis, Jr. They settled in the wooded neighborhood of North Walpole where they lived for 53 years. Glennis’ greatest devotion was to loving and raising her family, as well as nurturing and caring for 100s of other children and youth. She ran a home daycare for 27 years. Otis and Glennis’ provided 30+ years of active and committed service to the youth program at Trinity Community Church, Norwood, their longtime church family.
Glennis had a love of music which she instilled in all her children and grandchildren from an early age. With her quiet strength and humble nature, she encouraged her children to learn, laugh and experience life. Above all, Glennis showed what it means to serve God and others by her integrity and steadfast love. Even in her declining years while suffering from Alzheimer’s, she continued to bless others in her fellowship with family and friends, praying, enjoying music and visiting horses.
She is dearly missed by Otis, husband of 63 years her family, beloved friends, her church community, and those who cared so lovingly for her at Brookdale Memory Care for the past two years.
