PI’s Thompson-Hamel acquires Bangor firm
PRESQUE ISLE and BANGOR — The Presque Isle-based financial services firm of Thompson-Hamel LLC, which was originally founded in 1962, has announced it has reached an agreement to purchase the Bangor-based Farrington Financial Group.

Farrington Financial Group was founded in 1971 by well-respected Bangor businessman Frank Farrington. Both of these firms have long been affiliated with Lincoln, Nebraska-based Ameritas Life Insurance Company and Ameritas Investment Corporation, providing estate and retirement planning, investment and insurance services, while Thompson-Hamel also provides payroll processing services to its clients throughout Maine.
Brian Hamel, managing partner of Thompson-Hamel, said the client base they will acquire with the purchase includes customers from Fort Kent to southern Maine.

Thompson-Hamel will open an office at Farrington’s current location, 27 State Street, Suite 21 in Bangor, which will have full-time support staff and an active presence by Hamel, who owns a home in Bangor, and business partner Bryan Thompson.
Hamel is an investment adviser representative, Series 7 registered securities representative and licensed life and health broker, while Bryan Thompson is a Series 6 registered securities representative and licensed life and health broker.
