Grew and sons clothing store in Mars Hill for several years.
In addition to balancing family and work, she was an active member of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill where she was known for her decorating skills around the holidays and sewing costumes for the children who participated in the Church Christmas programs. She worked with Pioneer girls for many years, taught Sunday school, and was involved with AWANA. She was also a tireless volunteer and loyal supporter of the Samaritans Purse boxes for Operation Christmas child. She gave countless hours to many other charitable organizations.
Marjorie reached out to others in her community in a quiet unassuming way. Most importantly, she did these things out of kindness and not for recognition. Her compassion and love for others was a reflection of her exemplary character.
Marjorie was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte (Libby) Colcord Reed, her husband, Robin Colcord; and a brother-in-law, Gus Currie. She was also predeceased by a very dear friend, Beryl Lawrence.
