Historical society will revisit era of Dr. Boone

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Medical Center and the Presque Isle Historical Society will team up once again to bring alive a piece of Aroostook County history through the society’s quarterly presentations.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, participants will learn more about a local physician, Dr. Storer Boone, who many might say embodied the holiday spirit in that he genuinely cared for this community and his patients.

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the McCain Conference Rooms on the second floor of TAMC’s East Annex, 140 Academy St. in Presque Isle, and will also include several Boone artifacts for viewing.

City grant writer Kim Smith, who will lead the session, stated, “Doctors are held in high regard in our society and, as a result, tend to have great influence within a community. When an individual such as Dr. Boone serves his community for almost 50 years, it speaks loudly for what the community feels for the doctor and vice versa.

“Boone, like his father before him, served the greater Presque Isle area for 46 years. During these five decades, he did a great amount of good for our area and his legacy lives on today. He epitomizes what we hope to find in all doctors caring for patients, which makes it a very relevant topic especially during the holidays.”
