BLAINE, Maine — The Maine State Police are investigating what led to a crash Friday afternoon between a pick-up truck and a tractor trailer in the Aroostook County town of Blaine.
A Mars Hill man driving a pickup escaped serious injuries in a head-on crash with a tractor trailer in Blaine, according to the Maine State Police.
Around 2 p.m. Friday, Mars Hill resident Ned Ketchum was driving north on U.S. Route 1 in Blaine and crashed his Ford F-150 into a tractor trailer headed in the opposite direction, according to a press release from the Maine State Police.
Wayne Cushman, operating the Kenworth tractor trailer, “attempted to avoid the pickup but could not,” and ended up going partially off the road, according to the police.
Ketchum suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, while the pick-up truck was totalled and the tractor trailer received some significant damage, the police said.
Witnesses told the police that Ketchum’s pickup crossed the centerline and entered the path of the tractor trailer, and the crash remains under investigation, the press release added.
