Carlisle sweeps first meet of season
It was a successful opening swim meet for the Carlisle team, which swept a road meet against Washington Academy of East Machias Saturday afternoon.
The girls won by a score of 93-40 and the boys prevailed, 58-22.
Scoring wins for the Carlisle girls were Libbee Currie in the 200 freestyle in 2:57.1, Kyra Thibeault in the 50 free in 32.92 seconds and the 100 back in 1:23.84; Madelyn Wing in the 100 fly in 1:08.8 and the 500 free in 5:59.86 and Abby Espling in the 100 free in 1:17.85.
Girls’ relay teams prevailing were the 200 medley relay team of Espling, Kristyn Maley, Wing and Thibeault in 2:26.01; the 200 free relay team of Currie, Riley McNeal, Elizabeth Deschenes and Abigail Raymond in 2:19.75; and the 400 free relay team of Wing, Thibeault, Espling and Maley in 4:47.5.
For the boys, victories were scored by Harrison Ma in the 200 free in 2:56.49, Leigh Buck in the 50 free in 25.23 seconds and the 100 free in 58.17 seconds, Nate Gere in the 100 fly in 1:03.81 and Jay Philbrick in the 500 free in 7:05.76.
Capturing relay wins were Ma, Philbrick, Gere and Buck in the 200 medley relay in 2:04.75 and the 200 free relay in 1:58.87.
A home meet against Orono is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Limestone Community School pool.
