The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is offering some new programs beginning in the new year. An explanation of the four special sessions follows:
Walk With Ease
Pre-paid registrations will be accepted through Jan. 6, 2017 at the Sargent Family Community Center. The course is designed by the Arthritis Foundation and promotes education about successful physical activity for people with arthritis. This course will also promote education about arthritis self-management and walking safely and comfortably and will encourage participants to continue their walking program. It is a six-week session that runs from Jan. 9-Feb. 15. Classes meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1 p.m. The cost of the course is $25 for residents and $75.00 for non-residents. Rise ‘n Shine with instructor Jill Boyd
The department will accept pre-paid registrations through Jan. 4 for Rise ’n Shine, which meets on Thursday mornings at 6:15 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room in the Sargent Family Community Center. This class will help women of all ages strengthen their bodies and improve their endurance. This six-week class begins Jan. 5 and runs through Feb. 9, 2017. The cost of the course is $25 for residents and $75 for non-residents. For more information, call 764-2545.
Mighty Movers
Pre-paid registration for this program for young children are being accepted through Jan. 6, 2017. The class will meet on Monday and Wednesday from Jan. 9 through Feb. 15, 2017 in the Multi-Purpose room beginning at 9 a.m. This class encourages children to get up and move with music by playing games and using tumbling equipment. Playgroup
A drop-in playgroup will be held in the multi-purpose room on Thursday mornings from 9-10 a.m. at the Sargent Family Community Center. There is no fee and this will start Jan. 5, 2017.
