The Presque Isle Wildcats’ hockey team completed a stretch of four consecutive road games Friday, falling to Old Town/Orono at the University of Maine’s Alfond Arena, 9-1.
The Wildcats were winless in those four matches and are 1-4 overall. They played at home against Messalonskee Tuesday and will host Winslow Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Forum.
PI held an 18-16 advantage in shots on goal after two periods, but trailed 8-0.
“I thought we played much better than the score indicated,” said Wildcat coach Carl Flynn. “Old Town/Orono was hemmed in their zone for a lot of the game, so we executed our game plan very well.”
Sophomore Owen McQuarrie came through with his first high school goal in the third period while screening a Denny Young shot. Jake Stevens picked up the assist on the play.
Andre Daigle and Bryce Bonville shared the net duties for Presque Isle. Daigle had 10 saves on 18 shots and Bonville 10 saves on 11 shots.
