WASHBURN NEWS
By Amy Sawyer
The Washburn Rotary Club urges those who are not members to consider taking a short hour out of the week to get to know who they are and what they do.
The community can only benefit more when everyone works to support it. The club meets the first and third Wednesday of every month through April, then every Wednesday from May to November.
The next meeting is Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 5:30 at the Washburn Recreation Center.
Washburn Trailrunners
The Washburn Trailrunners Snowmobile Club will open the clubhouse kitchen on Saturday, Jan. 7, for the season.
The hours will be Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to noon.
Box Tops for Education
The Washburn District Elementary School continually collects Box Tops for Education. The process is simple: just send in clipped box tops found on hundreds of products to the school. Money earned goes towards resources like books, headphones, and other supplies for students. This is a great way to help support the school.
Any Box Tops sent are greatly appreciated.
Scheduled Meetings
The Washburn Town Council meets in regular sessions the second Monday of each month at the Washburn Civic Center. If the second Monday falls on a holiday, the meeting is moved to the following Monday. The next meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The next SAD 45 School Board meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 10, in the David J. Lyon Washburn District Elementary School at 7 p.m.
Winter Clothing
This time of year, schools find they can always use extra winter clothing for those in need. Washburn District Elementary School welcomes any donations you might be able to provide.
