PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A bulk potato truck flipped over and briefly shut down Conant Road in Presque Isle on the evening of Monday, Jan. 2.
A truck hauling potatoes from D.C. Farms in Mapleton to the McCain Foods processing plant in Easton crashed and rolled into a ditch as it was heading east and downhill on the Conant Road not far from its junction with Academy Street, according to the Presque Isle Police Department.
The truck was loaded and spilled the potatoes into the ditch, while the driver, Scott Hoffses, was not injured.
The roadway was briefly shut down Monday evening after the crash and again on Tuesday afternoon for crews to remove the truck and the potatoes, according to Officer Lucas Hafford, who responded to the incident.
