PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Sophomores Thomas Patenaude and Jake Stevens each scored two goals and recorded an assist en route to Presque Isle’s 5-3 victory over Messalonskee last Tuesday at the Forum. Senior Denny Young netted the Wildcats’ other goal.
Dana Michaud scored two goals for the visitors and Dylan Cunningham had the other. Presque Isle netminder Bryce Bonville, who gained his first victory as a starting goalie, faced 20 shots. His opposite, Amber Kochaver, faced 26 for Messalonskee.
PI coach Carl Flynn said it was a penalty-filled game for both teams, but added “we managed to conserve our energy and fight through a couple of mid-game injuries to preserve the victory.”
“It showed some grit, lots of guts, and that we’ve grown since the beginning of the season,” Flynn added.
The Wildcats are now 2-0 on home ice and improved to 2-4 overall. They are home for games Friday against John Bapst (7 p.m.) and Monday against Houlton/Hodgdon (5 p.m.)
Presque Isle’s scheduled home game against Winslow Dec. 29 was cancelled due to the snowstorm and a make-up date had not been set as of presstime.
