BANGOR — A Houlton man was sentenced to just over three years in prison last week for importing nearly 100 methamphetamine pills.
According to court documents, Stephane Desrosiers, 34, of Houlton pleaded guilty Sept. 11 to one count of importing methamphetamine and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John Woodcock to a 37-month prison term and at least three years of supervised release.
He was facing up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.
Desrosiers was picked up by authorities March 4 when he attempted to cross at the Houlton Port of Entry and a bag with 98 and a half methamphetamine pills was discovered in Desrosiers’ jacket pocket. Desrosiers, who was traveling with his two young children, originally told officers that he was a truck driver and that the pills were for his own use.
