New lawyer in town — Mr. Bernard Archibald, who was recently admitted to the bar of the State of Maine and won his first criminal case at the September term of court being highly complimented by Chief Justice Emery. He has been admitted as a partner in the well-known firm of Powers & Archibald.
He will commence his duties as a junior partner Nov. 1, 1907.
His many friends are congratulating him on his outlook for the future and the firm is to be congratulated upon being able to have such a brilliant young lawyer as an acting member of their law firm.

4-H Delegation — State 4-H Contest Delegates were named Saturday during Achievement Day at the Rec Center. They are: Mary Hand, Cynthia Stockford, Arthur Crouse Jr., Michael Kirlin, Barbara Seavey, Gwendolyn Rockwell, Stuart Rand, Byron Ketchum, Harold Gould Jr. and Margaret Swallow. Alternates are Thomas Fitzpatrick, Rita Kingsbury and Gloria Craig.
Oakfield PTA — The second meeting of the Oakfield High School Parent Teachers Association was held Monday at the high school with 36 present. Officers for the year include: Lionel Lord, president; Doris Thomas, vice president; Marilyn Staples, secretary and treasurer; Principal Arnuad E. Michaud, ex officio and Iona Nadeau, publicity chair.

Chamber Chatter — Plans have almost been completed for our “Christmas in Houlton.” Santa Claus will be arriving at 1:15 p.m. in Houlton to join the 1:30 p.m. parade on Dec. 4. Saturday will be the community tree lighting with community Christmas caroling at Monument Park. Santa will have his own house at Monument Park; it will be open Saturday at 6 p.m. to greet young and old alike.
FALL VISIT — Twenty-five years ago, the children attending Margaret Hagan’s Nursery School visited Smith’s Vegetable Stand on the North Road. Owner Charlie Smith donated pumpkins for the group to use in making jack-o-lanterns. Making the trip were, from left: first row, Beth Riley, Jessica Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Bell, Kristen Erickson, Heidi McCarthy, Laura Fitzpatrick and Adam Lynds; back, Jennifer Beals, Issac Baietti, Chris Bell and Tom Lowrey.
