The Aroostook Football League (AFL) will hold its first callout for football players for the 2008 season at 5:30 p.m. on Friday May 16 at Houlton High School. Coaches Brian Reynolds and Richard Cleary, as well as players from last season, will be on hand to answer any questions that parents and students may have.
In 2007 the Houlton area team, the Cleary Law Knights, came up just short in an exciting double-overtime championship game. This year the AFL teams are seeking as many interested players as possible for a full varsity and junior varsity schedule of games. No prior football experience is required and all players that complete mini-camp, receive playing time.
The AFL teams will compete against a number of squads in Aroostook County and northern Penobscot and will play an eight-game regular season schedule, plus potential playoff games.
The Aroostook Football League is seeking students who will be in 9-12 grades during the next school year (beginning in August 2008).
