Music, food, fellowship at Sherman Rec May 18

    SHERMAN — A special time of music, food and fellowship will be held Sunday, May 18 at the Sherman Rec in memory of Orey “Bunny” Hunt.     Music will start at 1 p.m. and a potluck supper will be at 5 p.m. All full slate of music talent has been scheduled for the event where donations will be accepted in memory of Hunt for the Sherman Rec and Stacyville Community Church.
    Hunt, who passed away this year, was a police officer in the towns of Patten and Sherman for over 25 years and he was very proud of his associations with troopers of the Houlton State Police barracks, including Col. Mac Dow. Hunt “truly loved music and singing,” says son Errol Hunt, and wrote a lot of family music. He also enjoyed singing in church and playing his favorite instrument, a Gibson guitar. Hunt would have been 87 years old on May 16.
    Musical groups scheduled to perform at the Bunny Hunt Gospel Memorial include: Vernon Hunt Gospel Group of Bucksport, Cold Brook Bluegrass featuring the Nissley family, Jack and Company of Canada, John Cahill of Bath, New Brunswick, Tom Ryan of Canada, Dennis Thompkins and Theresa Shannon, Terry Levesque of Stacyville, Janice Moore of Bangor, who plays the saw and pogocello, Alan Sockabasin, a Passamaquoddy entertainer of Hermon, John Birmingham of Patten, Linda Slauenwhite of Oakfield, Angie Glidden of Bangor, Jackie Pratt of Sherman, Beth Rogan of Sherman, Borderline Bluegrass, which includes members from Oakfield, Smyrna and Canada and more.
