Local woman receives ‘Care for Me’

    HOULTON — Tanya Pasquarelli has recently received designation as a Maine “Care for Me” child care provider.     “Care for Me” providers are in-home, license-exempt care givers who have passed a background check through the Maine Department of Health and Humane Services, Child Protective Services, Maine Division of Motor Vehicles and the Maine State Bureau of Identification. Caregivers must have a safe driving record, no substantiated allegations of child abuse or neglect and no history of Maine criminal convictions.
    The designation, designed to encourage and accommodate a small child care providers, allows Pasquarelli to care for two children who are unrelated to her plus family members. She currently accepts infants to pre-schoolers for child care services.
    “My objective is to provide a small-numbered child care facility where the kids receive individual attention and nurturance from a young-at-heart grandma,” said Pasquarelli.
