PRESQUE ISLE – Carolyn Dorrity, executive director of the Acadia Health Education Coalition (AHEC), has announced the appointment of Dean Grivois of Van Buren as the health careers coordinator for the Aroostook County region.
A native of Van Buren, Grivois is a 2002 graduate of Husson College (magna cum lauda) in business administration, and most recently has held the position of project director for the Power of Prevention Healthy Maine Partnerships. Grivois is a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Kentucky, Georgia and Germany as a cavalry scout. He currently resides with his wife, Claudia, in Van Buren.
Grivois’ focus for the AHEC Aroostook County office will be to promote and encourage Maine students to pursue a career as a health professional. Grivois will be providing middle and high school students, as well as career seekers, with presentations of www.MaineHealthCareers.com, an interactive Web-based health career exploration program of the Maine AHEC Network.
The purpose of the AHEC is to enhance the quality of and access to health care, to improve health care outcomes, and to address the health workforce needs of medically underserved communities. In addition to encouraging youth in Aroostook County to pursue careers in health care, Grivois will be expanding clinical training experiences for students in health profession programs and participating in continuing medical education program development.
