Basketball camp set for July
    The “Shooting Shires Basketball Clinic” will be held from July 14-17 at Houlton High School Alumni Gymnasium under the direction of Houlton varsity boys’ coach Mike Fogarty and members of his squad.
    The weeklong camp will help players learn the fundamentals of footwork, ball handling, passing, rebounding, shooting and more.
    The clinic will be held from 8-10 a.m. for boys and girls in grades 2-4 and from 10 a.m. to noon for boys and girls in grades 5-8. Cost is $40 per person.

    Littleton Swim Program
to start
    The Littleton Swim Program will be held July 21-24 at Raymond and Sandra Wotton’s pool on North Road in Littleton.
    Cost for residents is $10 and non-residents $30.

Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club to meet
    The Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly meeting on July 6 at the range located adjacent to the Houlton International Airport. The meeting will start at 7 p.m., with shooting to follow. All members are encouraged to attend.
Sale to help sponsor soccer trip
    The Houlton High School varsity girls’ soccer team will be holding a garage sale from 8 a.m. -4 p.m.on Saturday, July 5 at 11 Pleasant St.
    Proceeds will benefit a preseason soccer trip downstate.
WCCF June Swiss Tournament Report
    Roger Morin, a Houlton chess player, scored a perfect 4.0 points in four rounds to win the WCCF June Swiss Chess Tournament played in Trescott on June 14. 
    Close behind were Hoty Briggs with 3.0 points, while Mike McCabe scored 2.5.
    Houlton will host its first open tournament at the First Congregational Church on 45 High St. on Saturday, July 19. All chess players welcomed.
