ImageSouthington, Conn. – Joseph C. Carpenter, 71, passed away at home with his family around him on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, after a courageous battle with Cancer. He was the husband for 51 years to Luella (Irish) Carpenter. Joe was born on June 23, 1937, in Houlton, Maine to the late William and Ruby Carpenter.
    Joe attended Houlton High in Maine and served in the United States National Guard. He was employed with Marlin Rockwell from 1957-1980 and retired from New Hampshire Ball bearing, where he worked from 1980-2002. He was a member of the Sportsman Club in Fitzwilliam, NH and was active with the Keene Swamp Bats Baseball team. Joe loved to go fishing and camping but was most happy when he was surrounded by his family. His love will remain in their hearts forever.
    Along with his wife Luella of Southington, he leaves his 3 children Randy Joe Carpenter and his wife Carol of Florence, Al.; Bruce Carpenter Sr. and his wife Tracey of Plainville, CT and Debra Vearil and her husband Steve of Anderson, SC. He also leaves nine grand-children; five great-grand-children; and his sister, Gloria Raymond of Haines City, Fl.
    A memorial service was held on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, CT.  Family and friends gathered from 5-7 p.m.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Memorial contributions in Joseph’s name may be made to the Bristol Hospital Cancer Center, 41 Brewster Rd., Bristol, CT 06010.
