HOULTON — In 1969 Carl Crawford was selling cars at Crawford’s Auto Mart, but changed his focus and an innovative way of doing business.
Crawford Homes was started with one truck and one escort car.  Since those days, Crawford Homes has steadily grown adding more trucks, escort cars, set and service equipment and have approximately 25 employees.
Their customer base is very important to them. They have many members of the same families that have bought over the years. In many cases, they have had second and third generations in the fame family as their customers.
For the last 38 years, Crawford Homes has established itself through a solid work ethic demonstrated by its owners.
“Carl  is the driving force behind it all,”  said Patty. “He works very hard, and is determined to keep the rest of us doing the same. Although most of us do not have the energy to keep up, we have been successful and dedicated to satisfying our customers, trying to apply his determination and hard work to that end.”
Carl and Patty have four children  nine grandchildren and a new granddaughter-in-law.
The Crawford’s  agree that this has been a wonderful, though stressful , business to be in.  The relationship with factory representatives and owners, along with the dealer organizations and their families and with the state groups has helped them with situations have been something they would not have wanted to miss.  They hope to have many more years to develop even more.
