Sage Financial: Local and loving it

    HOULTON — In its fifth year of business, Sage Financial is hiring to keep up with growth in all aspects of its business.
    “Our location on Main St. in downtown Houlton has been good for our clients, and that’s good for us,” said Lynette McLaughlin.  “It’s also fun to be here. We get to see all the parades and activity downtown.”
    Sage Financial is a CPA firm and a branch office of Bannon, Ohanesian & Lecours Inc. David Gates CPA and his staff offer tax preparation, accounting, payroll and other services at what Mr. Gates calls “local rates.”
    “The tax and payroll side of the business has grown enough to require another accountant, that’s the only way we will be able to accept new clients,” said David Gates. “We’ve spent a bit of time and money upgrading our systems and with the new employee we will be more efficient and able to take on the new clients we’re getting.”
    But Sage Financial is not just tax and accounting, as a branch of Bannon, Ohanesian & Lecours Inc., they offer fee-based portfolio management, pensions, mutual funds, and many other investment and financial services.
    “Richard is the branch manager, but both of us are fully licensed registered representatives which gives us the depth we need to do quality work for our clients,” said McLaughlin.
    “Our new employee will free up Lynette to spend much more of her time on the investment side,” said Richard Hammond CFP. “But she’s the only one of the owners who knows both sides of the business, and someone certainly needs to know both. We are both looking forward to stepping up the investment side.”
    Gates, Hammond and McLaughlin own their building at 52 Main St. and are proud to welcome FEHAC to their second floor. “It’s an absolute pleasure having Lynda and everyone else in the building, they are all wonderful people and I am sure they will do well here,” said Hammond.
    “We look forward to serving our clients for many years,” Hammond added.
