Friends & Needles Quilt Guild will be hosting their annual Quilt Show “Mother Earth and Her Season” on Friday and Saturday, August 22- 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday, August 24 from 12-4 p.m. at the Houlton Lodge of Elks on Main Street in Houlton.
Admission is $4 at the door. This year’s show will illustrate the color of the seasons through the magic of fabric. Honored guest, Sieglinde Schoen-Smith is an award winning quilter and author/illustrator of “Mother Earth and Her Children — A Quilted Fairy Tale.” Sieglinde will show her award-winning quilt “Mother Earth and Her Children” and have her newly published books for sale.
The Guild will also honor two members, Arline Dickison and Aileen Smith, by showcasing their quilting artistry as one of our special exhibits. Several vendors will be open during the show to offer fabrics, machines, books and quilting notions. A Mini-Quilt Silent Auction will be held featuring table runners, wall hangings, tote bags and more.
Tickets will be on sale for $1 or six for $5 on a 2008 raffle quilt “Kaleidoscope Blues.” Raffle proceeds support the Linus Blanket program, the annual scholarship awarded to a deserving Houlton High School senior student and other guild activities.
